In welcoming the Year of the Ox in 2021, let us reflect upon the previous year and to look forward to the future with optimism.

The ox is perceived as being hardworking, earnest, logical and reliable. In a sense, these characteristics can be likened to PM Link’s dedicated employees. Our employees, particularly the Project Managers (PMs), showed resourcefulness and dedication by adapting quickly to the changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

2020 Review

Looking back at 2020, we had many proud moments such as the official opening of Eunoia Junior College (EJC) and the first anniversary of the National Centre of Infectious Diseases (NCID). We were the PM for these successful projects that offered our communities high quality environments to learn, develop and, in the case of NCID, regain health.

EJC is Singapore’s first high-rise junior college and the first JC to be linked with a community club, illustrating the project’s outward-looking community integration and links with residents. What was remarkable was that all spaces were designed in liaison with the JC students, who gave input on features they felt most conducive to their study and social needs. As the PM for the project, our team worked in close collaboration with our client and their stakeholders to deliver this project successfully.

Our PMs also delivered NCID, a purpose-built facility designed to strengthen capabilities in infectious disease protection and management. NCID celebrated its first anniversary in September 2020. It was a timely and effective addition to Singapore’s armoury in the battle against COVID-19, enhancing the country’s ability to respond effectively to infectious outbreaks.

Our Transformation Amidst Disruption

The pandemic had caused many instances of disruptions to our usual work and life in 2020. However, we were able to quickly transform and accommodate the sudden changes, making the best possible outcomes that we could in disruptive situations.

#1 – Adapt, Change and Share

When COVID-19 cases began to surface in Singapore, PM Link, just like many organisations, had to rapidly implement business continuity plans (BCPs) with new work arrangements and renewed health and safety guidelines for employees. Various government agencies and regulatory authorities also began to issue circulars and constantly update their guidelines.

PMs had to adapt quickly to the new work arrangements and familiarise themselves with the latest circulars and guidelines issued by various regulatory authorities including the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). In turn, they provided counsel to clients and translated these into actual implementations or adjustments in their building and construction projects.

#2 – Adoption of Digital Technologies

When Singapore entered its “circuit breaker” period as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of a widespread outbreak of the coronavirus, workplaces had to be closed and all staff instructed to work from home. This Work-From-Home period provided the catalyst for PM Link to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies which are electronic tools, systems and resources that enable us to store and process data efficiently. The adoption of digital technologies helped us to improve workflow and effective communications with all stakeholders.

#3 – Rapid Response to Clients’ New Requirements

PM Link won new client projects in 2020 despite the constraints of operating within stringent restrictions imposed to counter the COVID-19 pandemic. This is due to our PMs’ ability to maintain high standards of service to clients during the year. We are honoured to be awarded the opportunity to deliver affordable, quality housing and living environment for communities in Singapore to thrive.

Looking forward to the Year of the Metal Ox

The Year 2021 is significant for PM Link as it marks the company’s 20th year in business.

Since its inception in 2001 as a fully owned subsidiary of CPG Corporation, PM Link has grown to be one of Singapore’s best-known independent project management firms. We transform cities into high quality environments for communities to live, work and play together. We are proud to be an integral pillar of the country’s evolving community and social infrastructures.

For our 20th anniversary, we are making plans to involve employees, clients, business partners and many others to join in our celebrations. Watch this space for details of our events!

We will be adopting more new technologies to better empower our PMs to strengthen relationships with clients while improving efficiencies and streamlining operations.

As a start, we are also pleased to introduce our revitalised PM Link website to take community engagements to the next level. On the website, we will share the company’s latest developments and insights, and hopefully, through these, spark meaningful dialogues with stakeholders. Visitors will also be able to send their feedback, requests for quotations (RFQs) and requests for information (RFIs) to PM Link with ease through the use of this website.

Thrive with Business Confidence Together

As our Managing Director, Mr. Tan Cheng Chuah puts it, “PM Link’s achievements and ability to transform in the past year has given us great confidence for the year ahead.

“We are inspired to lead with innovation in the on-going development of Singapore’s community and social infrastructures. Together with our clients, we can continue to deliver more high-quality environments for communities to live, work and play.

“We wish everyone a happy and healthy Chinese New Year.”
