Lean Station x PM Link: Lean Principles Workshop

As the built environment sector continues to evolve, project delivery is becoming increasingly collaborative, digital and data driven. While technology is a key enabler of this transformation, success ultimately depends on the people delivering our projects. At PM Link, we believe that cultivating the right mindset is just as important as adopting the right tools.

To support this vision, PM Link recently partnered with Lean Station to conduct a Lean Principles Workshop for our project managers. The workshop forms part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, digitalisation and continuous improvement, equipping our teams with the drive and skills to deliver greater value to clients through Lean thinking.

Facilitated by the founder and CEO of Lean Station, Mr Sharath Waikar, the interactive workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of Lean principles through a series of engaging, hands-on activities. Working in teams, participants took part in a five-stage challenge that demonstrated how lean thinking and principles is crucial even to the simplest of tasks.

Mr Tan Cheng Chuah, Deputy Group CEO of CPG Corporation and Mr Greg Kobayashi, Assistant Vice President, Project (Infrastructure) at Jurong Port joined as guest judges for the team challenge. Drawing on their extensive industry experience, they shared valuable perspectives on the importance of Lean thinking in driving productivity, fostering collaboration and delivering successful projects.

More than just an introduction to Lean concepts, the workshop encouraged participants to challenge conventional ways of working and explore practical improvements that can be applied in their day-to-day project management responsibilities. Through interactive discussions and experiential learning, participants gained a deeper appreciation of how Lean thinking can improve planning, communication and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

The workshop also builds on PM Link's growing collaboration with Lean Station. In 2024, PM Link and Lean Station formalised their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding to advance the adoption of Lean construction practices and digital project delivery using the Lean PlanDo platform. Since then, Lean PlanDo has been progressively implemented across selected projects and incorporated into PM Link's digital transformation journey, supporting more collaborative planning and more predictable project outcomes.

As PM Link celebrates its 25th anniversary, we remain focused on preparing our people for the future of project management.
